Each week I run into a few articles that I feel are especially valuable. Every Monday I would like to share some of the best with you, my readers. I hope you find them helpful.

This week’s favorites include three books that will help you accomplish anything this year, how to cope with burnout during COVID times, why doctors have trouble controlling expenses, how tax brackets actually work, and yes you can buy and sell property without a realtor or their fees.

Happy reading!

Your future is determined by the books you read and the people you hang out with. If you want to start 2021 by reading books that will help you move to the next level, The Female Money Doctor gives us her favorite Three Books That Will Help You Accomplish Anything This Year. She is very excited to share these books. Book one provides the ability, book two the motivation to take action, and book three integrates the actions into habits for success. Start this New Year by actively moving toward the things you want in life.

Burnout will always play a factor in high performance careers. But during the pandemic, this problem has been augmented by new contributing factors. KevinMD published an informative article from a dentist who offers a way to deal with the additional stress we all feel with Physician Burnout During COVID: Bringing Ancient Practices to Modern Medicine. There is nothing new under the sun.

Do you ever wonder why expenses seem to keep going up? Not just from inflation, but also from our own actions. Smart Money MD takes us through a discussion about Why Doctors Have Trouble Controlling Expenses. Do you have trouble controlling expenses? It is a lot easier when you avoid debt. Tax brackets are confusing to many people. They often think that if their income climbs enough to take them into the next tax bracket their taxes will take a big leap. This, of course, is not how it works. The White Coat Investor does a nice job of teaching the 2021 Tax Brackets and How They Actually Work. If you have ever found this topic confusing, this article will give you clarity. It is interesting to note how often people gripe about the upper income people getting tax breaks without giving the lower income level a break too. But the lowest 44% of Americans don’t pay any federal income tax at all. So there is no way to give them a tax break. It is the top 56% of earners who pay all the federal income taxes.

Most people don’t realize that a property can be bought or sold without using a realtor. I have bought and sold several properties, some with and some without a realtor. I think the first one should be with a realtor and pay close attention to what they do. Once you have observed a property transaction you will be equipped to do the rest of them without a realtor. Sometimes there are extenuating circumstances that make you want to use a realtor even though you have seen the process. Your Money Geek lays out some good Tips for Buying a House Without a Realtor. Have you done it? Would you be willing to try? It could save you 6% of the selling price if you sell it on your own. If you are buying, there is not a financial benefit to you since the seller tends to pay all the fees. But this is really good information if you are the buyer on a for sale by owner property.

I hope you enjoy these articles as much as I did. I look forward to updating you again next week with a few more articles I find especially interesting. If you read an especially good article, send me the link so I can share it with others.
