Thanksgiving is a day to step back from our typical day and spend time with our family. A chance to turn off the hustle and bustle of our everyday life and enjoy each other. A moment to reflect on what we are truly thankful for.
This thanksgiving I will throw down a simple but effective challenge drawn from an exercise in my high performance coaching program. Write down five things for which you are truly thankful. Then, during your feast, share your five things with the people at your table. Then ask everyone at the table to share something for which they are thankful. It will spark a very meaningful and heart felt conversation.
We have so much to be thankful for, but we often lose sight of this when we watch the news of our world unfold around us. Don’t let the negative rule your life. Let your life be guided by your blessings and be thankful for the people/things/experiences you have.
Your life matters. It matters to everyone sitting at your table today.
Once you have made the list of five things for which you are thankful, post it somewhere so you can read it every day. On the mirror in your bathroom is a great place. Then every morning you can begin the day reflecting on what truly makes you thankful. Your day will be so much brighter when it begins with thank you.
And finally, I challenge you to ponder who it is you are thanking, and thank them personally.
Have a Happy Thanksgiving.
