Christmas 2025

The year seems to fly by faster every time I write this letter. I hope you all had a good year.

Keith: Our youngest son is working for the power company, trimming the trees back from the power lines. He has always liked heights much more than the rest of us. In his climbing class, where they were trained in rescuing an unconscious coworker from high in a tree, he set the course record for getting an injured person to the ground. This year he has also begun the process of building a four-plex, which he plans to do mostly himself. The foundation was poured earlier this month.

Brian: Continues his work with Purpose First Financial. His project to completely rebuild his home is moving along and the wood stove has been installed so he can now burn all the wood he removed in the remodeling process. He and Jenny continue to work with the Junior High youth at church. Jenny has continued working half time as a brailist, aiding the blind children in the school district. She has also helped paint sets for local plays. Vernon is four and in pre-school. His biking skills are starting to catch up to his father’s. Everest will be 3 this month. He is trying to keep up with his big brother in everything. We enjoy having them at our house every Thursday and Friday during the school year.

Carolyn: We both started on a quest to walk 2025 miles in 2025. Carolyn is on track to complete the mission, but I had some trouble with my Achilles tendons and backed off at the start of September. She is helping provide childcare for MomCo, a young mother’s group that meets twice a month. We still play on the worship team at church once a month. And as always, she continues to support all my activities.

Cory: I published my 7th book last spring which became an Amazon best seller. I’m continuing to coach physicians on leading a better life. I got serious about playing pickleball this year, taking lessons and even collected a few medals. I am also writing a musical about a workaholic trauma surgeon, as I have a lot of material for that topic, and was proud to see the first two scenes and songs performed live in a showcase of upcoming local musicals. I was cast as the main character in my segment of the show. I began playing piano bar music this year and did a few gigs before I transferred my efforts into the musical.

Travel: We have significantly cut back on travel since the grandkids came into our lives. After taking them camping for a weekend last summer we decided our 31-years of traveling in a motor home have come to an end. We took our last motor home trip this fall, which was also our first mission trip. Nine of us from our church spruced up a Christian daycare facility in Tecate, Mexico. I never thought building a fence could be so much fun. The motor home is now all cleaned out and needs a couple of repairs before it goes up for sale. Other travels included spending spring break in San Deigo and a week in August with Carolyn’s extended family at a rental house in Sun River, Oregon.

Merry Christmas, Cory & Carolyn Fawcett.

PS. The Nativity set in this year’s picture was hand made in 1970 by Cory’s Grandmother, Virginia Brown. She had a ceramic shop for several years and many of her creations won blue ribbons at the Jackson County Fair. Cory made many works of art in that shop and also won a blue ribbon for the only piece he ever entered into the fair.
